What’s the BIG idea with Compassion Sunday?

Poverty is big. But God’s heart for children in poverty is bigger. Compassion Sunday is a nationwide, one-day event, where thousands of Australians will join in sharing His heart for the poor with their church family through presentations, videos, drama, worship and more. It’s your opportunity to be part of something REALLY big by inspiring your church to think small—and change the world one child at a time through sponsorship.

Compassion Sunday will help you and your church:

  • respond to God’s call to help the poor
  • inspire new child sponsors
  • engage practically and creatively with issues of poverty
  • deepen prayer, worship and ministry
  • spark a new sense of mission ... and more!

Most of all, by encouraging your church to pray and take action in this way, you’ll be giving more children the chance of a brighter future through Compassion’s child development programs.

When is the BIG day?

Compassion Sunday officially takes place on 6 May 2012, but you can choose any date after this in 2012 that works best for your church.

When should I talk with my church leader?

Once you have received your Planning Pack (order here), read through the guidelines, watched the DVD, and prayed for God’s leading, you are ready to take the next step and talk with your church leader. It’s essential to have permission from your pastor or church leader before registering your Compassion Sunday event.
